Percutane Joint & Muscle Mobiliser
FAQs
Percutane is a natural, extra-strength topical cream designed to relieve pain, stiffness, inflammation and reduce swelling in joints and muscles.
Generally speaking you can think of Percutane as heat therapy (like Deep Heat, but more effective!) Use Percutane for chronic (long term) issues relating to muscle aches and joint stiffness. Percutane will increase circulation to warm up and activate sore and aching muscles and joints to help get you moving. Percutane is also ideal for use before exercise to increase circulation and get blood flowing to muscles and joints.
Traumitane is ideal for use as a first response for acute injuries and inflammation. Think of it more like applying ice to an injury to reduce the effects of inflammation (swelling, redness and bruising) relieving discomfort and promoting faster recovery. Traumitane is ideal for post-exercise application to promote faster recovery. Think of Traumitane like Anti-flamme but more effective!
Many people use Percutane for osteoarthritis, joint stiffness & inflammation, muscle and joint aches, nerve pain, shingles & fibromyalgia.
Start with a small amount ($1 coin) and build up as you tolerate the heat.
Apply twice a day to the affected area (morning and midday). Avoid applying at night as it can get quite hot which can interrupt sleep.
Rub in using the applicator head. If you need to use your hands to fully rub the product in, ensure you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
Avoid touching eyes, mouth or any sensitive areas after applying.
Avoid hot baths, hot tubs or being exposed to heat immediately after application as it can cause a burning sensation.
Use on unbroken, intact skin only; do not apply to broken, irritated or damaged skin.
If pain relief does not begin after 1–2 weeks, and especially if there is no improvement after 4–6 weeks, review use with your healthcare provider.
Percutane works by depleting a neurotransmitter called Substance P which helps carry pain signals to the brain.
Neurotransmitter depletion and subsequent nerve de-sensitization requires consistent use. For best results and lasting comfort, use daily for at least 1-2 weeks. Maximum benefits are felt after 3-4 weeks of consistent use.
Yes. Percutane is safe for daily and long-term use because it’s drug-free and doesn’t carry the stomach, kidney or cardiovascular risks associated with regular NSAID use.
Oral medication such as ibuprofen and other NSAIDs must pass through your digestive tract and circulatory system before they can take effect, which can cause gastric upset and other side effects in some people.
In most cases, yes — because it’s topical and natural. If you’re on complex medications or have skin sensitivities, check with your doctor first.
Percutane contains arnica. While topical arnica is generally considered safe for most people, those taking prescription blood thinners may be more sensitive to bruising.
If you are using anticoagulant medication (such as warfarin, dabigatran, apixaban, rivaroxaban, or daily aspirin), it is best to:
- Patch test first on a small area
- Avoid applying to broken skin
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you have any concerns or experience increased bruising
Yes - Percutane and Traumitane can be used together by applying Percutane in the morning and then applying Traumitane in the afternoons/evenings. In this way, the formulas work together to simulate hot and cold therapy, the benefits of which are well known to the medical community and high performance athletes.
Percutane is generally well-tolerated but some people can find it gets too hot. If you have very sensitive skin, patch-test a small amount first to ensure compatibility.
Percutane should not be applied to any sensitive areas such as eyes, face, genitals, broken or irritated skin.
Make sure you wash your hands well after application with soap and water to avoid accidentally transferring Percutane to any sensitive areas.
Topical creams are very effective at getting directly to the source of the issue as they can be applied directly to the site in question. Percutane and Traumitane have been specially formulated to penetrate quickly through the dermal layer to ensure the active ingredients are absorbed directly into the affected areas as opposed to sitting on the surface of the skin like many other topical products.
Yes — older adults with arthritis, stiffness or chronic pain often find consistent relief with Percutane due to its powerful natural ingredients and safety profile.
The superhero ingredient of Percutane is Capsaicin which is a derivative of hot chillies. Different people react in different ways to chili heat in their food and the same is true of topical absorption. If you find the Percutane heat too warm for you, apply milk to the area with a paper towel. In the same way that drinking a glass of milk reduces the burn in your mouth from a hot curry, the protein in milk (casein) breaks down the capsaicin molecules to reduce the heat on your skin. Note - a hot shower, bath or spa or sauna should be avoided as these situations will reactivate the Capsaicin in Percutane, generating more heat.
Percutane isn’t a generic heat rub. It’s a powerful, clinically tested and TGA approved formula that targets inflammation, circulation, pain and mobility.
Capsaicin creams such as Percutane are an effective way to manage the pain associated with arthritis and allow you to keep your stiff joints moving.
For relief from arthritis it is important that you use Percutane regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, we recommend you use it at the same time every day - in the mornings.
Percutane may not work immediately to relieve pain. Because it works by depleting a neurotransmitter that sends pain signals to the brain, it may sometimes take a little while (up to a month) to work. Most people report getting relief from arthritis pain over the course of a week after starting to use Percutane.
No - Percutane has a fresh, minty scent from natural botanicals, but it’s not overpowering and fades quickly.
Percutane can be applied half an hour before activity to increase circulation, loosen stiff joints and support better movement.
Yes — Percutane is approved in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) for relieving pain associated with osteoarthritis, joint stiffness & inflammation, muscle and joint aches, nerve pain, shingles & fibromyalgia.
